Six Week Mindful Eating & Cooking Program

Sat, Oct. 1st — Sat, Nov. 4th. Classes meets on Saturdays. 2.:00 PM – 4:00 pm. (Week 6 will be the all day mediation retreat 9 AM – 3 PM) Location: Westside Unitarian Universalist Church
Cost: $250. Includes course book, 7 downloadable guided meditations, 5 weekly sessions, all day meditation retreat
and all food for in-class eating exercises.

The Mindful Kitchen Presents:

The Six Week Mindful Eating & Cooking Program is a one-of-a-kind program teaching participants an entirely new approach toward weight loss, stress reduction, and mindful eating and cooking. Participants learn the clinically proven techniques of mindfulness meditation, and explore how to apply these techniques to cultivate a wiser and friendlier relationship with food, eating and cooking.

This program is not about starting a new diet, counting calories, or cooking all ‘natural’ or ‘organic.’  This program is about forging a healthy, balanced, and wholesome relationship with the way we cook and eat food. It is about exploring how stress and unhealthy mental and emotional habits impact the way we nourish ourselves in our day-to-day lives. It is about deepening our relationship with the way we cook and eat through the practice of mindfulness meditation.

  • Reconnecting with cooking and food preparation through experiential workshops and exercises
  • understanding how stress impacts not only how we eat but how we live our lives, with special attention paid toward developing the stress management tools for a lifetime of health and greater well being.
  • learning to identify personal triggers for mindless eating, such as emotions, social pressures, or certain foods
  • specially designed in-class exercises for a direct experience of mindful eating under the guidance of instructor Claudio Barrientos
  • guided meditation downloads for developing at-home, at-work, and at-play mindfulness
  • An all day meditation retreat on Week 6

Cancellation Policy: You may cancel enrollment in any program (3) three days prior to the commencement of the program with no penalty. Within three days of the commencement of the  program, no refunds will be given, but a credit will be issued in your name. You will be given up to six months to apply the credit toward any of the programs offered by The Mindful Center Knoxville.
