Calming the Anxious Mind
with the Innovative Basic Mindfulness System
We all experience it at some point in our daily lives…the overactive, anxious mind that just won’t seem to settle down. Sometimes these states of mind can go on for days or even weeks at a time, and for some of us this mind can escalate into full blown panic attacks.
The good news is, there’s something we can do about it.
The Mindful Center is excited to welcome the extraordinary workshop leader Shelly Young, MA, LPCC, LADAC, as she takes participants through an incredibly effective methodology of practice that can help us all to calm the anxious mind. Shelly’s depth of experience and front-row training go above and beyond the norm, and anyone seeking to deepen or begin their practice of mindfulness should attend this workshop.
“Albuquerque is lucky to have such a gifted teacher as Shelly Young.”
Michelle DuVal, TMC Director
This workshop will offer you:

Guest Speaker Shelly Young is a licensed psychotherapist and alcohol/ drug counselor in Albuquerque. Thirty-three years ago, out of desperation, she came to meditation through the practice of Zen, driven by her own anxiety, panic, mood issues and a debilitating sugar addiction. Shelly has studied with numerous teachers and masters in both the Mindfulness and Zen traditions. In the early 80’s she met Shinzen Young who became strongly influential in regards to her own meditation practice. Shinzen’s system led her to teach the Basic Mindfulness System as the foundation of all of her professional work.
