In todays video I’m sharing with you a practice that is near and dear to my heart and that quite frankly has changed so much for me in social settings. I used to get self conscious, I used to worry about what people thought of me, my looks, my clothes, sounding witty (ack), I used to even get angry at my friends sometimes for not ‘being there’ for me always in the ways that I wanted them to be (impossible task for even the best of besties, I know, but we all sometimes unconsciously expect this from others).
I’m going out tonight for dinner with friends, and I’m going to treat it like a formal meditation.
You heard me, I’m going to meditate while I’m out with friends.
The cool thing is is that all of those issues I described above (and more) suddenly go POOF in the present. If I can practice letting it all go as it’s arising in me and around me, the gift that blooms is that I can become the friend that I wanted all this time in others. Present. Non-judgmental. At ease. Quick to laugh…and equally quick to let someone else off the hook when a social misstep is made, which happens.
I riff a little bit in this video and get into some pretty big topics in relation to our humanity, which makes this video a little longer than the others…and I even start things off with a grammatical error, but I think there’s some good stuff here so I wanted to share.
Let me know what you think.
With love,
Michelle
