So what in the world do mangoes have to do with mindfulness?
As many of you know, I host retreats in beautiful places all over the world, and recently I was hosting one on a beach in Mexico. And it being mango season, mangoes were literally crashing down around us from the trees.
And it reminded me of a terrific little nugget of a mindfulness teaching that we can use anytime and anywhere something happens to startle us out of our daily mind.
We get so entranced, possessed by the daily busyness of life. Life on auto-pilot can so easily become a way of being.
We eat things and hardly taste them.
We say things and hardly know what we’ve said and how we’ve said it.
We rush around watching cell phone screens instead of smiling at neighbors.
Few things can pop us out of our trance and into the present moment like the sound of a mango crashing through the trees!
But we can also create ways to get us off auto-pilot and back into the preciousness of the moment. Watch my short video – 4 minutes – to find out how.
I hope it gives you some ideas!
With tons of love,
Michelle
